A Note of Farewell

While I am still able, I wish to pen these few words as my memory is slowly slipping away. This is addressed to my loving family on all the Hawaiian Islands, California and other states, and Europe, my four children whom I refer to as my "Four Diamonds, as they are most priceless to me:" Marissa, Jo, Jason and Brandon, all my dear, dear friends from Waimea High School, Mckinley High School, California State University, Society of American Magicians, International Brotherhood of Magicians, President John McClanahan (sp), IBM #257, Kidabra of Las Vegas, President Bradley Roberts, The Gary Darwin Club, the Thursday Magicians and Entertainer's Gathering , the wonderful and hard working friends at the Fantastic Indoor Swap Meet, and the love of my life my wife, Katherine Anthony.

I have just been released from Valley Spring Hospital here in Las Vegas, and after numerous tests, two cardiologists, two cancer doctors and my personal physician, Dr. Jeffery Ng (5 doctors) the prognosis and the diagnosis is the same - I have lung cancer and brain cancer. Both are inoperable. I start chemotherapy and radiological treatment tomorrow, (April 26, 2010). The battle begins on that date - as in any battle, one either wins or loses. The final outcome is in God's hands. Please pray for me if you believe in the power of prayer. I know I do.

Although I do not wish to appear didactic or idiosyncratic, I am also of the belief that most, if not all, human beings are both good and evil. Some are more good than evil and some are the opposite. It is nobody's fault; it is simply the human condition. I like to think that I am more good than evil as I have always tried to do what's best in all of my endeavors, but we make mistakes sometimes. To those that I have not been good, please forgive me. To those who feel I have been good, thank you for your vote of confidence. Please remember that no one is perfect; therefore, I believe it is best not to expect perfection from anyone. Instead, focus on the good and hopefully you will end up with a happier, fruitful and long life.
